Count down to first camping.....

SO we are just over a week before we pull out to head to Fall Creek Falls for the first camping trip in the RV and the first camping trip with the girls.  I ran to the dollar tree today while the rest of the family napped to pick up some essentials....$60 later I headed home.  That's right, $60! But I found amazing stuff, like a bath mat that was the perfect size for the little bathroom, all kinds of cooking utensils, and first kid supplies for my kit.  I also got a few things for the girls of course.  On next to making the menu for the outing and picking up cookware for the open flame.....until next week!

We have FIRE! =)

Good News! The RV had propane.  Turns out the sensor for gas was off.  What a smart RV.  It would not allow the propane to be turned on. The DH and stepdad figured it out.  Stepdad got the pilot light lit and the stovetop and oven both work. WooHoo! We won't starve while camping.  Now on to replacing all the light bulbs!

The Inside...

I meant to upload the photos earlier.....but here they are.....The American Eagle

The Water Lines

Our vacation is set and the campsite is reserved.  Gotta make sure we have water!  DH tested the water lines this Friday night.  Our RV has an ice maker as well so he tested it all.  And what did he find??  Leaks.  UGH.  The ice maker needed a new valve fitting and he had to replace some of the lines.  A few dollars and a few hours and all is repaired.  So to recap, we have a working generator for power and water lines that work.  Up next.....propane for the stove.  He tried to test the stove and it wouldn't fire up.  Will have to take it and fueled up.  The journey continues....

Our first outing...

So part of the reason we bought the RV is because DH races.  September 7th was the first true outing.  We took the big RV to the race track.  It was just a day trip and not terribly hot so perfect for testing it out.  All the awnings came out wonderfully. Set-up was easy.  The fans run off the battery so we had those running a good portion of the day.  However, when we went to run the generator we found an issue.  It would run for a little bit and then sputter.  Turns out the fuel pump on the generator went out.  Whew! I consider it a minor fix because the pump was less than $200 to replace and the husband fixed it in a few short hours.  So now the generator is running! Yay! On to test the water lines......

The first weekend

Sorry I meant to update sooner! The first weekend.  We decided that first it needed a good cleaning.  We spent an entire Saturday putting good old fashioned elbow grease into it.  We got it shined up nice! Then we drove it to dinner.  Yes that's right, dinner.  We drove it about 30 minutes up the road and it rode well.  Our girls even sat still on the coach!  We noticed a few little things.  The dash air doesn't work but the overhead unit does so no worries there.  Also the frig is not cooling.  Not a big deal.  Our freezer works and the neighbor, who works on ACs, says that if the freezer is working and the frig isn't cooling, then it should be only minor fix! More to come......

Our First RV!

So after many long hours spent on Craigslist and RV lots, the husband and I finally found one killer deal on a 1991 Fleetwood American Eagle Diesel Coach. It is a Class A motorhome. It has the diesel pusher that he wants and the luxuries that I want! It isn't terribly dated, but it does need to be updated.  So....here begins the journey of turning this diesel pusher into our home on wheels!
