Snow...

This winter has been one of the coldest I can remember.  We have had multiple days in single digits and yesterday got snow.  Unexpected snow.  So work on the RV has come to a stand still.  Here are some great snow pics from Loudon County TN.

New Projects New Year

I like to think of myself as a creative person.  DH would argue that I have ADHD instead. But whichever category I fall into, I have a long to-do list!  Back in November I snagged from deals on a TV and Blu-Ray players.  I started yesterday by taking that tube TV and VCR out of the RV.  I went a head and measured the cabinet.  My plan is to put a brace of plywood in the existing cabinet and mount the extending arm.  when the RV is in motion, the TV will not be mounted and the cabinet will be closed.  When RV is not in motion, then the TV can be mounted and the Blu-ray player will be connected.  The existing tube TV has a 12v plug so I will have to do some modifications because the new TV is not a 12v.  Hmm....Oh well! The brackets on the new TV were not easy to remove.  We had a horrible cold snap and a blast of Arctic air move in last night.  Went from mid 50s yesterday to today right now its 11 degrees.  Its predicted to be down to 1 degree tonight.  This is not my kinda weather.  I guess I will spend the rest of this week shopping for samples!  Stay tuned as the project moves on.

New Year!

So 2014 is here....and I continue on with the DIY RV projects.  After reading a lot of other blogs, I'm fairly confident that I can repaint and maybe even repaper the RV.  I've decided to go with a nice tile/stone looking wallpaper for the kitchen and booth area.  I've also contacted to get estimates on reupholstering the booth cushions and the recliner.  Because lets face it, I can't sew. Also, I have now gotten all the TVs and Blu-Ray players for the RV.  So stay tuned!

Headboard is done!

Finally! The headboard is done.  Of course it took both myself and DH to complete it.  He had the staple gun.  And while neither of use got stapled, my hand did fall victim to the stable gun. I still have to affix it to the wall but otherwise its a go! Whew.  Now on to the many other small projects, like lampshades and sconces.  I still love having an RV.  I'm super excited about Black Friday shopping.  K-Mart has all the small appliances on sale that I need and Wal-Mart has a 32" LED TV on sale.  Small steps through the winter make for a comfortable summer.  =) Happy Camping Y'all!
This is the old ugly headboard!

Old Dresser Redo

Wow! One week later and much improvement has been made.  I'm not quite finished with the bed but everything has been painted! And it looks so much better.  The paint really had turned yellow and you can see it when I painted the trim on the bed white.  The dresser and the chest are so pretty.  And $160 beats the $2000 set I was looking at for sure!! So to bring you up to speed....I bought an old bedroom suit about a year, year and half ago.  DH dates the bedroom suit to the late 70s, early 80s.  It was dirty and the painted had turned from white to yellow.  I started by washing all the furniture.  I took the handles off and then lightly sanded the furniture.  I used a spray paint to paint the handles purple. I painted all the flat drawers white and the embellished drawers pink.  I saw this style at more than one furniture store in the same day.  Then I painted the chest and the dresser.  I got lucky and was able to hide some imperfections.  I painted the mirror white.  I'm having second thoughts on that and it may end up pink before the day is done.  But for now its white.  I then taped off the bed and painted the trim white.  This is where you can really see the yellow in the bed.  I painted the center pink.  Eventually I will paint white polka dots and black Minnie mouse silhouettes on the center.  DD really wants a Minnie mouse bed. All the paint came from Lowe's and is the Valspar brand.  Including the spray paint. So here are the photos.....
